Lament of the lost

Usually I read the newspapers thoroughly. I try to read the news articles first, then letters to the editors, and finally commentary by various columnists. I have my favourites of course. I have been a long time fan of BC Pires. Kevin Baldeosingh, Ira Mathur, and lately have developed a liking for Kim Boodram, Lisa Allen-Agostini and Peter Quentrall-Thomas.

There are times though when writers rise above their usual standards, and today I see that Ira Mathur and Martin George have done just that. Speaking about topics relating to crime and our trend of losing our children to activities outside the law, they have both painted pictures which would do well to be examined in greater details.

They will both be found under the 'commentary' column in the Guardian. Check it out.
