Our infant mortality rate, the most important public health indicator of health in a country, is now the second worst in the Americas. We beat Haiti. That figure is the most shameful legacy of the PNM movement, especially considering the close ties between neonatology and the party.
‘Close ties between neonatology and the party’ would be referring to the fact that Dr Petronella Manning, sister of the former PM, was for many years head of Neonatology at POSGH… for those who aren’t sure what the phrase was referring to.
Dr Manning had previously referred to the practice of medicine in Trinidad and Tobago as ‘ketch arse medicine’…
